I'd say he is better off trying and failing as opposed to no trying at all. Kleberson was very over-rated and people judged him on the basis of the World Cup success. No one can say that Kleberson was an instrumental part off Brazil's WC02 success, but everyone can say that Park Ji-Sung along with Ahn and Seoul were an instrumental part of Korea's WC02 success, and Park Ji-Sung was probably the main protagonist in PSV's Champion's League campaign. With disregard to all that, I think Hiddink is a very selfish man. Instead of hailing Park for his great success as he has shown enough talent and ability to become a Manchester Utd player, he is putting him down and telling him that he is heading into failure!!! It shows how selfish he is, and how managers could hinder a player fromm succeeding in the football world when their priority is their personal success...

I'm an AMERICAN korean who has been watching world football for about 5,6 yrs now, and my reaction to PARK's signing is kind of mixed. I don't give a hoot about korean players or the national team all I care about is LA LIGA, and the ARGENTINE league, which are the best leagues by the way. Anyway, I highly doubt Park will be a hit at OLD TRAFFORD, English football is for people who like to fall asleep while trying to watch a sport in progress. Park is too little to play in the EPL, and i highly doubt anything will come of his transfer. Just some more jerseys being sold but I cannot deny his performance against AC MILAN and WC2002, maybe those stupid italian soccer fans coaches and players got a little lesson in world football that day because he almost personally knocked out the mighty AC MILAN.

난 세계 축구를 5,6년간 지켜보고 있는 미국계 한국인이고, 파크의 계약에 대한 나의 반응은 복잡하다. 나는 한국 선수들이나 한국팀에게 야유를 보내지 않아. 내 모든 관심은 최고의 리그인 라리가와 아르헨티나 리그에 집중돼 있어. 어쨌든, 난 파크가 올드 트래포드에서 활약할 수 있을지 굉장히 의심돼, 영국 축구는 스포츠를 보는 도중에 잠들기 좋아하는 사람들을 위한거거든(뭔소린지-_-;). 파크는 EPL에서 플레이하기에는 너무 작고, 난 그의 이적이 무엇을 가져올지 정말로 의심된다. 단지 저지 몇장 더 팔리겠지~ 하지만 난 AC 밀란전과 2002 월드컵에서의 그의 플레이를 부정할 수는 없어, 아마 그 멍청한 이탈리아 축구팬들과 코치와 선수들은 그날 세계 축구에서 별로 많은 교훈을 얻지 못했을거야. 왜냐면 그는(박지성을 말하는듯;) 거의 혼자 강력한 AC 밀란을 넉아웃 시켰거든. (그래서 대체 논지가 뭔지..; 진짜 한국계 맞나-_-?)

If park is good enough he'll succeed.Althoug everyone is giving example of kleberson not getting enough chance at old trafford but he just wasnt good enough ,he got found out infact man utd have a high percentage of losing matches when kleberson starts .so as long as park is good enough he 'll definately prosper at old trafford

During his last seasons in Holland, Park haven't stop progressing to finnally a hell of a good player. That was the case in the champions league where he was one of the two best and important player, along with Van Bomhel, for the PSV team and I think he was at his top vs AC Milan.But even with all this progress, I don't think we can match him with neither Giggs or Ronaldo that play on the wings or even with Schols or Rooney that usally play the position where Prak is at his best ( in that case,Van Nistelroy's helppers ). So finally Park will spent most of is time on the bench in manchester so he shouldn't go there. I see him more like a good average team player or good, not great, team player, like Monaco, PSG, Marseille or Lyon in France, Roma in Italy, or Valencia, Deportivo or Atletico in Spain.

As a Manchester United fan I have mixed feelings over Park's signing. First of all I wasn't excited at all when he signed but on the other hand I remembered his exciting performances against AC Milan in the Champions League and I said maybe this will be a good thing. However I think it is way too early to say that he is a success or not, he may fail like Kleberson, Saha, Forlan etc or he might be a sensation like Rooney, or Smith. My Advise for Park is that he has to make a good first impression cos there will be no room for sympathy at OT. It is a big club and if you give the manager the wrong impression he is very unlikely to pick you.

Ive been watching since im 5 and doing so until now. Seeing Park's performance both in league and Champions league were total fluke, yet, he has to adapt and establish himself as so. His determination and persistance in the pitch, apart from his other skills will perfectly fit with the English football. He will make a good addition to the Red Devils. Who knows he will play the 2nd striker behind Nistelrooy as he did in PSV with Hasselink? Good luck after all Park!!

BarosTheGreat: Selfish? Maybe Hiddink is helping Park by forcing Ferguson's hand with his comments. Man U is a team which demands success immediatley. He will not have much of "break-in period" like he enjoyed at PSV. Also, if Park stayed at PSV for one more year the club and Hiddink would have lost him without any compensation.

as a staunch supporter of Man United, i strongly believe that the signing of Park was not a very good move because what we need at old trafford is someone who can replace roy keane's position of cental midfield. we need to sign someone like Michiel Ballack, someone who is an already established world class player. with all due respect to Park, i still feel that he can not manage to impress where a world cup winner such as Kleberson failed, or where Juan Sebastian Veron failed. despite the great skill that Park poses, i believe that he is not the right person that we are looking for. however he should be complimented for his ability to play any where in the mid field. i never the less wish him all the best in his at old trafford.

he has a lot of talent, and is capable of playing anywhere on the pitch, as we saw in the game where PSV vs AC milan, Park was at one end of the pitch one minute, and the other side in the next. He will probably spend alot of his time on the bench for the first few weeks, but i reckon he will make it into the starting 11 very quickly. Yeeehhhaaa!!

I think it is abit too hash to label Park as a failure even before he arrives at Man U. It may be true that some players have failed at the red devils, but I think that given what Park is made of, he deserves a chance. it is not right to compare Park to Kleberson, they are two very different type of players.With Kleberson, it is clear to see that he is not made for the english game, no doubt about his talents but I thinks he lacks the combative nature, that never say die attitude. I bet you that had he gone to Real, he would have been a success. Park, will surely make it at Man. U

The widely held opinion that Park's signing will only be beneficial to Manchester United's jersey sales is complete rubbish. The South Korean possesses speed, endurance, and determination which are qualities much needed by any team in any league. The fact that the young midfielder has been extremely successful in 3 football leagues should be evidence that he has what it takes to be able to adapt to English football too. In fact, I believe that his attributes are more suited for the English style of football which is undoubtedly more physically orientated than the Dutch style of play. For those of you who question what Park can bring to the Old Trafford need to watch the 24 year-old's 2002 World Cup and 2004/05 Champions League campaign. Also, I think it is absolutely absurd to compare him to the failures of Kleberson and Veron. Why can't he be compared to the Man U greats? p.s.-Forza Lazio

I think that we should have moved towards someone proven at a higher level, and not be getting players who would generally operate in the first teams of our european compatriats.Diego forlan is a player who was generally poor for us but goes to score 16 + goals in La Liga. His confidence was not there when he came to Manchester United, It takes a special player to put the shirt on, Such as Wayne Rooney,Cristaino Ronaldo, and Ruud van nistelrooy.I also have to comment that we are badly needing a morale boosting season for our players, we acnt afford to attract big name players to the club if we dont play and win convincingly enough. Park however was good in the Champions league, and surely his mental strengh and hunger will be tested for him not to be included in the list of over seas flops at manchester united. As a supporter of the club i would love him to prove me wrong, and wish him all the best.

Park is a great player, but i dont want to see him at mancester united...he well ruin his career there. He will not get play there much. And in the end man. united is overrated club with overrated manager. I see manu tv show on my tv channel, and i just sometimes hate what they talk there. After that fa cup final manu-arsenal they said that in the end WE DID NOT LOSE, and this was so onesided match and we dominated and so on and on. In football what means are goals and the FINAL SCORE. After that kind of attitude what i see and saw at manchester united tv, no wonder i start to hate this club....VERY OVERRATED CLUB.

Park's signing to Manchester United I feel is a big help to Manchester's midfield. I still feel that they need a lot more help on defense after giving up so many goals this season, I think it would be best for them to train him as a defensive midfielder and support the back instead of the attack. I think his style of play will fit right in at the Old Trafford and his ability to never stop running will have to kick into play because after all, he is not the biggest and more physical of soccer players in England. p.s.- Forza Juve

파크의 계약은 맨유 미드필더진에 큰 도움이 될거야. 난 맨유가 이번 시즌에 엄청 많은 골을 먹는걸 본 후 수비에 더 많은 도움이 필요하겠다고 여전히 느끼고, 파크를 공격보다는 수비형 미드필더로 훈련시켜서 수비에 힘을 싣게 하는게 그들에겐 최상책이라고 봐. 난 그의 플레이 스타일이 올드 트래포드에 잘 맞을거라 생각하고 그의 쉬지 않고 뛰어다니는 능력이 도움이 될거라 생각해.

I think he's going to be on the bench for awhile in the beginning of next season but eventually manage to get used to the new circumstances around him pretty soon because his skills and stemina/energy already reached to the toppest level when he was palying in PSV Einthoven. Park and Alan Smith will be the main keys of Man Utd sooner or later, I bet!

Park is the best Asian player I have ever seen in the past decade (am so proud to see that!). His work-rate, techniques, and determination will prove to be important for European league. About his transfer to MU? I reckon it's just a start of a brilliant career; I have no doubt for that! I just hope that he'll have a fair-share of playing-time in such a talent-ridden club. Oh well,... if not so, I am sure other European teams will pick him up from the bench as he certainly is not worthy of it. To start off a great season, Ferguson should consult with Guus! I don't think he is a sort of manager who understand his talents.

I think that Park will be nice in man utd. But Park wil be in the bench in man utd. at first season, awhile. But i believe his talent, skill, and his effort.....
Many Korean people would have been smile and cry about Park's play. But now I'm sure we will have a smile face during the every season of Park' life.

at first i had skeptics about this transfer ManU and Psv cause i wanted him to stay at psv for one more year...i also thought it was abrupt change but now i am little more confident about Park's ability, endurance and speed perhaps. his work rate is far different than any other players in the world. his hunger for soccer have shown new ways for the younger generation..so in conclusion i am more toward agreeing to Park's success rather then protecting his bench....just do what your doing now and you'll be the new man for ManU....Gooo Parkkkkk
